According to SNGPL (Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited) sources, the domestic consumers of Sui gas saw an improved pressure in the gas supply after the 36 inch diameter gas pipeline was fixed by the authority. However, it must be noted here that he gas supply to industrial and commercial zone has still not be restored. As per SNGPL officials, it will take them 24 to 36 hours to complete the repairing work that will restore supply of gas to industrial and commercial zones.

Furthermore, two committees have already been formed for estimating the loss resulted by the bombings which damaged 3 main pipelines in Rahim Yar Khan that supplied gas to Punjab. The incident occurred on Sunday night when a barred militant outfit bombed the three major gas pipelines located in Rahim Yar Khan; the bombing also killed one woman.

According to reports, remote-controlled devices had been used to cause the explosions that, within 30 minutes, demolished three out of four gas pipelines. As per sources, the pipelines burst into a gigantic ball of fire when the blasts occurred, because the pipelines were carrying a highly inflammable natural gas, scientifically named as Methane.

The banned BRA (Baloch Republican Army) claimed the responsibility for explosions at the point that supplied gas to Punjab from Loti, Pir Koh, Qadirpur Sawan and Sui gas fields.

Arif Hamid Khan, MD of SNGPL, said that the damaded pipelines were of 16, 18 and 24 inches diameter that supplied natural gas to all the way from Rahim Yar Khan to Faisalabad. The huge region also includes the cities of Multan, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal and Lahore.
