Rao Anwar, Former SSP Malir, Escapes Cracker Attack

The former SSP Malir, Rao Anwar, escaped a cracker attack that was made on his convoy on Saturday in Karachi’s Malir area. According to initial reports, a cracker was hurled at the Convoy at Link Road by assailants. It was further suggested by reports that there was some exchange of fire between Anwar’s security guards and the assailants.

It is said that Anwar managed to escape the attack because he was riding in a bullet-proof car. The assailants also managed to flee from the crime scene. On Thursday, SSP Malir Rao Anwar was suspended from his post after he made allegations about the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in a press briefing. He had said that the political party has connections with RAW, the Indian spy agency.

Two alleged terrorists had been presented by SSP Rao, who, he said belonged to the MQM. It was further claimed by the official that the MQM was actively working against the interests of Pakistan. He asserted that important MQM leaders had connections with RAW and the arrested workers of MQM had been trained from the Indian spy agency.

The SSP had also said that he could support his claims with evidence, which includes statements and passports of the arrested terrorists.
