Maryam Nawaz Does Not Believe PPP Was Involved in Safdar’s Arrest

Maryam Nawaz, the Vice President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), gave a speech on Friday in Lahore. Amongst the things she said, the leader also stated that she did not believe that the Sindh Government or rather, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had anything to do with the arrest of the Captain (retd) Safdar.

As she addressed a crowd of Baloch students present at a rally, she clarified that she had not doubted the PPP, even for a second. The PML-N leader recalled that the chairman of PPP, Bilawal Bhutto had called her soon after the incident. She informed that he had been enraged by what had happened.

She revealed that Bilawal had provided her with a few details, which would soon come to light if the investigation continued. She also stated that she is only waiting for the inquiry report and shamed those who had had the retired captain arrested.

The vice president maintained that the police raided a woman’s room without a warrant. She added that if such a horrifying thing could happen to her, any woman in the country could easily be victimized. As per her words, even Islam does not allow a woman to be treated like this, war or not.

Maryam Nawaz also declared that the incident had simply proved who had the real power in the country. She added that there was no need to carry out an inquiry because the public can see everything for themselves.

Mentioning her father, she said that he had once said there lies a state above the state. According to her, Imran Khan had proved her father right when the Karachi incident took place. She urged people to focus on the camera that were in front of them. Thus, she concluded that there was no need for an inquiry.

The vice president also added that she thinks that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is now only grasping for straws. As per her calculations and predictions, they may leave the government even before January arrives.
