PM Imran Khan Wishes Good Health to Trump and Melania

On Friday, Prime Minister Imran Khan sent out wishes of good health to the President of the United States, Donald Trump and Melania Trump, First Lady. He wished the two speedy recovery, as news of the two testing positive for coronavirus surfaced on multiple media and social media channels. 

In a tweet on Friday, the US President himself confirmed that he and his wife have tested positive for the Covid-19 virus. He announced that the two of them will be quarantining themselves for at least two weeks. The timing of this news could not be worse as the presidential election to be held on the 3rd of November is just a month away. 

The tweet of the first couple of America contracting the virus reverberated through world financial markets and media. Mike Pence, the US Vice President, took to Twitter to wish the couple a speedy recovery. He stated that millions across America, as well as him, will be praying that Trump and his wife remain hearty and healthy throughout. 

At the age of 74, the President of the United States, has been deemed to be at high risk. Professionals believe that his age and weight have put him at a disadvantage. Moreover, though he has remained in prime health for as long as he has been in office, Trump is not known to follow a healthy diet or exercise on a regular basis.

Various media outlets have highlighted how Trump played down the threat of the virus while it was in its early stages. Additionally, he continually predicted that it would go away. 

Over 200,000 people in the United States alone have lost their lives to Covid-19. Those with pre-existing medical conditions and the elderly especially took a hard hit. 

It is a known fact that Trump rarely ever wears a mask and ridicules those who do so regularly. In the presidential debate that recently took place, he also made fun of Joe Biden, the Democratic presidential nominee. The President has been known for denying the advice of health professionals, who believe that face coverings are important to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus. 

Alongside the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the British government also wished a speedy recovery to the US leader and his wife. Robert Jenrick, the Housing Secretary also wished good health to the entire Trump family. He also stated that the British government knows what it is like to have a leader test positive for coronavirus. Moreover, Jenrick concluded by saying that keeping politics aside, he does hope that America’s first couple has a quick recovery. 

Gabrial Attal, the spokesperson for the French Government, said that the fact that the leader of the US contracted the virus goes to show that no one is spared for it. He called out Trump for showing skepticism towards it and then wished him good health. Tsai Ing-wen, the President of Taiwan, also released a statement wishing a speedy recovery to the President and his wife.
