Shibli Faraz Compares Nawaz Sharif to Altaf Hussain
Shibli Faraz, the Information Minister, has once again spoken out against Nawaz Sharif. The former prime minister and leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was criticized for becoming just like the founder of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Altaf Hussain. The latter is famous for his speeches against state institutions, such as the one he gave on the 22nd of August 2016.
The Information Minister fired off, saying that there is no difference left between the two politicians. In his opinion, both of them share the same modus operandi as Nawaz Sharif is following in Altaf Hussain’s footsteps. Shibli Faraz gave a detailed statement in a press conference on Thursday, in Islamabad.
His comments were directed towards the speech that Nawaz Sharif gave to the Central Working Committee (CWC) of his party. This took place earlier in the day, wherein the former prime minister had lashed out at the current government, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He blamed it for destroying the livelihood of the citizens and the country’s economy.
Nawaz Sharif once again stressed on the fact that the struggle of his party is not against Imran Khan, the current Prime Minister. Rather, he wants to see those who go down who installed Imran Khan as a puppet by rigging the elections of 2018.
Shibli Faraz addressed the media saying that if they are airing the speech of the PML-N leader, then they should also visit jails and publicize speeches given by other prisoners. In his opinion, Nawaz Sharif was only attempting to take revenge on the country by giving the speech that he did.
The Information minister reminded people of the words spoken by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, belonging to the Islamabad High Court (IHC). The latter had criticized Nawaz Sharif for not showing up to court for his hearings and instead, knowingly defeating the system and making a joke out of it after fleeing to London.
On Wednesday, the judge reiterated that the accused, the former prime minister, left the country to defeat the system. He condemned the cowardly act.
The convicted, Nawaz Sharif, had been permitted to go abroad to receive medical treatment in the November of 2019.
