A Year To Remember For Pakistan Cricket

The year 2021 has been phenomenal for Pakistan Cricket in terms of winning and setting new records. The year is about to end in a few days time and the Pakistan team's future looks brighter than ever before. Pakistan Cricket team managed to finish this year on high as their standing shows; Ranked fifth in Tests, Third in T2Oi and sixth in One day Cricket.

Pakistan started this year on a winning note against South Africa and concluded this year with a clean sweep against West Indies on home soil.

Overall performance for Pakistan team has been standout for the whole year, especially in the shortest format. They were second to none throughout. Captain Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan led the team on most occasions.

Pakistan set the new record by winning 20 matches out of 29 in the Twenty20 format and no team has ever been able to achieve this feat before. They only lost 6 games out of 29 and 3 ended with no result.

They played 7 T20i series during the year 2021 and came out victorious on 6 occasions while only suffering the loss against the Mighty England team.

Pakistan enjoyed a great time in this year's T20 world cup that was played in the UAE. They ended their group matches with 5 wins included the famous win over arch-rivals India. The only defeat came against the well-balanced Australian side in their Semi-final fixture.

The remarkable pair of Babar and Rizwan broke many records during the year. They now have a record for having most century partnership stands in T20 cricket. The previous record was between Rohit and Rahul for scoring 5-century partnerships but Babar and Rizwan have 6 now. 

Mohammad Rizwan has won the title for scoring most T20 runs in a year. He scored 2,036 runs with one hundred and 18 fifties against his name.

Babar has become the only player to score 50 or more runs on 20 occasions during a calendar year in T20 cricket and has 939 runs against his name.

Pakistan team was not only clinical in the batting department but they also showed great dominance and resilience in the bowling as Hassan Ali and Harris Rauf took 25 wickets each in T20 format.

Pakistan also had an impressive year in the longest format of cricket. They played 10 test matches during this year and won 7 out of 10. The defeat came against New Zealand 0-2 and they leveled the series with West Indies 1-1.

Fawal Alam, Azhar Ali, and Abid Ali have made crucial contributions in the test matches from the batting department. While Shaheen Afridi led the bowling line in test matches.

Pakistan has only played 6 ODI matches and won just 2. They won the series against South Africa and suffered a clean sweep against England.

Ramiz raja became the chairman of the Cricket board on September 13 which saw the departure of Waqar and Misbah as Pakistan coaches. Ramiz raja brought new management & staff to bring change in Pakistan cricket. 

Under the Leadership of Ramiz Raja as chairman, Pakistan is expecting big teams to tour Pakistan after a long time to help revive international cricket in the country.
