Pervez Musharraf Finally Appears in Court to Face Treason Charges
Pervez Musharraf, the former Pakistani president, has finally appeared in court today to face charges of treason, after constant no-shows during past few months.
Pervez Musharraf came to court under strict security today after staying in a hospital for chest pains in last month. He missed his court appearances in December because as per his representatives, explosives were fund planted on the route that goes from his residence to court.
Musharraf is facing treason charges over his decision of suspending constitution and imposing a state of emergency during 2007 when he was serving as president. According to Musharraf, these are politically motivated charges.
He had returned to Pakistan last March from a self-imposed exile.
