Jahangir Tareen to Have a Meeting with Prime Minister in a Few Days

The estranged leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jahangir Tareen, recently said that he will be having a meeting with the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, in a couple of days. According to him, some people from Islamabad have assured him that they will make sure that the two parties have a sit-down.

Tareen made these remarks while speaking to the media when he appeared at court in the city of Lahore. He had been summoned there in accordance with the cases that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had registered against him.

Tareen went on to add that he and Imran Khan had a strong connection and have struggled together in politics. He does not want to see it go to waste.

The PTI leader asserted that no shareholder in his company is in an opposing party in any case of the FIA. He maintained that they are all happy with him.

As per Tareen, the cases that have been registered against him are not of a criminal nature, nor are they relevant to the FIA. He said that the FBR and the SECP are responsible instead.

The estranged leader recalled that in the initial days of him supporting the premier, his business had been thoroughly investigated by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). Notices had been sent to him but as per Tareen, even the opposition had been unable to turn a civil case into a criminal one.

Just last week, lawmakers of the PTI openly showed their support for the dissident leader. They went on to warn the government that extreme measures will be taken if the former general secretary of the party was not treated justly. They threatened to go to any lengths to ensure that Tareen was not targeted by injustice.

A group of more than 30 MPAs and MNAs escorted Tareen to a banking court in the city of Lahore. Shortly after, they released a statement telling the Prime Minister that if he did not take any definitive action soon, then it may be too late.

Earlier, the court had also extended the interim bail to be paid by the PTI dissident leader, as well as Ali Tareen, his son. They now have to post bail latest by the 3rd of May. On that day, it will also be revealed whether the Tareen case lies in the jurisdiction of this particular court or not.
