Coronavirus Vaccinations in a Single Day Cross 200,000
Asad Umar, the Chief of National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), recently informed that the number of coronavirus vaccinations in the past 24 hours has exceeded a figure of 200,000.
The Federal Minister took to the micro-blogging website, Twitter, to reveal that more than five million people in the country have registered to receive the jab up until now.
The Minister took to encouraging all those aged over 40 to come forth and register right away to receive the vaccination. He further reminded people to strictly follow all safety measures to ensure that the virus does not spread even further in the country.
Just a day ago, the NCOC held a meeting in which it decided to establish a handful of monitoring teams. These teams will personally supervise and ensure that restrictions are being implemented to the full during the Eid lockdown, which will be imposed for a period of 9 days, starting from the 8th of May until the 16th of May.
Earlier in the month, the NCOC further revealed that a couple of new restrictions will be implemented under its strategy of ‘Stay Home, Stay Safe’. Moreover, a blanket ban on tourism will also be imposed and inter-provincial transport will be shut down. These steps are being taken by the relevant authorities to prevent a rise in the number of coronavirus cases in the country by limiting the movement of the citizens.
In other news, an announcement was made by the Interior Ministry, which stated that the holidays for Eid Ul Fitr in the country will begin from 10th of May and will last till the 15th of May. This was personally approved by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, as well as the NCOC itself.
This year, Eid is coming at a time when the country is struggling with the third wave of the novel coronavirus. Pakistan has recorded over 800,000 cases and more than 18,000 deaths. As of now, only a fraction of the population has received the vaccination.
