Lahore Anarkali Bazaar Blast Kills Atleast 2 And Injures 26

At least 2 people including a child killed and 26 others injured in a bomb blast close to the Anarkali Bazaar Lahore location on Thursday, stated the health minister of Punjab.

As per the Police department investigation, an improvised explosive device (IED) was used in the blast. Windows of close-by stores and buildings have been shattered by the explosion, at the same time motorbikes parked close to the location of the blast have been damaged. 

Dr. Yasmin Rashid Health Minister of Punjab while speaking to the media, told that at least two people along with a 9-year-old child lost their lives in the blast. 

She stated that a total of 28 people have been brought to the Mayo Hospital in Lahore, out of which one was already dead, and a child has died in the hospital during his treatment. 

The minister said that three women were also injured, who are in stable condition.

Dr. Yasmin Rashid additionally told the media that four patients are presently being operated on, and they are in critical condition.

Rashid stated that no burnt instances have been reported; although, all injured had orthopedic injuries.

According to the initial investigation report of the blast, submitted by the Punjab Inspector-General of Police to CM Punjab, the explosion was done with the help of a 1.5-kilogram planted explosive device which has damaged a nearby building and eight motorbikes. 

According to the report, the blast was hard at 1:40 pm, after which the police and rescue teams rushed to the location. Forensic teams, Police, and different security agencies are inspecting the footage from the CCTV cameras to investigate further. Police have also arrested some suspects for investigation.

The police department informed Geo News that the blast created a 1.5 feet-deep crater into the ground. A large number of visitors come to the Anarkali area each day where numerous markets and plenty of business centers are present.

Umer Sher Chattha DC Lahore stated that the blast took place at 1:45 pm, and police are investigating the safety cameras to track down the culprits. He further told that the location has been sealed off and police teams are collecting proof from the scene of the crime.

Sheikh Rasheed Federal Minister for Interior said to Geo News that there was a threat of terrorism and he will further collect and share the information with the public.

Dr. Muhammad Abid Khan deputy inspector-general of operations Lahore had stated that no security alert was issued.

Sheikh Rasheed also told that the ceasefire between the gov and the banned outfit TTP has come to an end, and a red alert has been issued in five other major cities of Pakistan.

Pm Imran Khan condemned the incident and stated that valuable lives were lost because of the blast. And instructed the government authorities to immediately provide medical help to the injured. He also asked the government of Punjab to submit a report on the incident.

CM Usman Buzdar also condemned the incident and ordered for speedy arrest of the culprits behind the blast.

Shahbaz Sharif Opposition Leader in the National Assembly stated that the blast was upsetting in which poor people and innocent children have lost their lives, and many were injured due to this explosion.
