Ukraine Agreed To Talks With Russia After Its Nuclear Defences On Alert

The Ukrainian government stated on Sunday that it had agreed to talk with Russian authorities after four days of fighting, as President Vladimir Putin had ordered to put Russia’s nuclear deterrence forces on high alert.

Dozens of civilian people have been already killed during the conflict and hundreds of thousands were forced to flee.

The office of President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukrainian representatives would be meeting Russian officials at the Belarus border from where Russian forces attacked Ukraine. The meeting is expected near Chernobyl which is one of the world’s worst nuclear tragic site.

Ukraine President Office made a statement after President Zelensky has spoken to his Belarus counterpart Alexander Lukashenko, saying the politicians agreed that the Ukraine representatives would meet the Russian counterparts without any preconditions. Earlier Ukrainian forces stated that on the fourth day of the Russian invasion, they had repelled a Russian attack into the second biggest city of Ukraine, Kharkiv.

After Western nations are getting ready to send their arms into Ukraine and imposing harsher sanctions, President Putin issued orders to his defence chiefs to put Russia’s nuclear deterrence forces on alert.

Earlier Sunday explosions and machine gunfire were heard in Kharkiv and later the wreckage of Russian armored vehicle burning and many other abandoned were seen by AFP. Oleg Sinegubov the head of the regional administration stated on Telegram that Kharkiv is under control and our forces were eliminating the Russian army during the operation.

Moscow also claimed that it was surrounding Kherson the southern city of Ukraine and Berdyansk the city in the southeast. Both cities are located near the Crimea peninsula, which was annexed by Russia in 2014 from Ukraine. Officials from Ukraine also stated that the Russian forces targeted overnight the oil deport close to the capital Kyiv and a gas pipeline near eastern Kharkiv.

Ukraine stated that it was holding back Russian forces in many other positions and so far 4,300 Russian soldiers had been killed. The claims could not be verified independently. Several residents in Kyiv spent nights in nearby cellars or shelters while Ukraine forces stated they were defending themselves from sabotage groups of the Russian army. Sunday was comparatively calmer than the previous day.
